Back To Back Babies

PC: [Barbara Nitke]

When it is announced that a celebrity is pregnant, people everywhere begin speculating whether the baby will be a girl or boy, and always gush about how well-dressed the little one will be.

Well just like their fashion mommies, the babies of Nina Garcia and Stella McCartney know how to make an entrance. Nina Garcia announced the arrival of her second son, Alexander David Conrod, today, and soon after, Stella McCartney revealed the name of her fourth child, a baby girl named Reiley.

The holidays is always a special time to celebrate with friends and family and welcoming a newborn baby into a family is remarkable experience. If you find yourself or one of your loved ones expecting a child in the upcoming months then Qi has a new arrival that will suit your needs. Our new Patchwork Layette Blanket comes in two color schemes--blush and blue--which is perfect for a newborn!

Shopping in Florence

Hey everyone! It is Lauren, an intern here at Qi, and while I am studying abroad in Italy I wanted to share a few fashion treasures that I've found here.

Patrizia Pepe is a boutique in Florence, Italy that catches my eye on daily basis with its interesting store windows and beautiful clothing. The company was founded in Florence in 1993 and is surely influenced by Italian style. The minimalism of the clothes make them really wearable on a day to day basis.

I saw many similarities in the Fall/Winter collection with Qi's own Fall 2010 line. Both collections featured military-inspired clothing, with structured silhouettes and brass buttons.

In addition, Patrizia Pepe and Qi both offered puffer jackets and knit capes to keep warm in style.

Finally, there were some similarities in the way the two brands use leather. Patrizia Pepe offered a number of leather jackets and leather blazers, while Qi has been using leather in skirts.

Take a look at Patrizia Pepe's most recent ad campaign--it is quite clever!

Levi's Loves the Earth

In an effort to go green, the classic denim company, Levi’s, has created a sustainable denim collection called Water
The sustainable line hits stores in January 2011, and Levi's will continue to produce 1.5 million pairs of jeans, which in total will conserve over 16 MILLION liters of water.

Erik Joule, the Vice President of Levi’s announced, ““We challenged ourselves to operate at the intersection of style and sustainability. We challenged conventions and asked in which processes we could eliminate or reduce our water use.”

The brand reduced the number of wet cycle processes used in production from three cycles to one. They also developed a way to stonewash jeans without the use of water.

The Water
Qi is happy to hear that more and more companies are considering their impact on our environment. As contributors to important environmental causes, such as the National Wildlife Federation's efforts to clean up the Gulf, we take pride in the fact that our knitwear is made from cashmere, a renewable resource that ensures profitability for farmers, in an efficient and eco-friendly way. Made from the fine downy undercoat of goats, cashmere is both renewable and sustainable.

Besides feeling like heaven against your skin, our cashmere styles will protect you from the cold while protecting the earth, as well!

Supermodels Are Superheroes

Love Magazine transformed models into superheroes for a short film called "Modelgeddon."
The film's concept was created by director James Lima who had the girls strut, stamp and slide in stilettos among a pile of rubble. Clad in Versace, models Alessandra Ambrosio, Claudia Mason, Ana Beatriz Barros, and Julie Orden show off their butt-kicking abilities, all while rocking fierce hair and make up.

Check out the video below:

Qi's Fall 2010 line was inspired by the superpowers of fashion, too! The concept behind the photoshoot was to demonstrate the power of women and the strength and influence Qi's muse has in her world. Between being fashion-forward, self-assured, and elegant, our muse has the ability to conquer the world and understands the power of giving back.

Here are some pictures from the shoot. Enjoy!

New Neutrals

PC: [Fabsugar]

Fashion icon Kate Moss traipsed through London recently looking chic in her gray, camel, and black ensemble. Kate's outfit is unexpected--the model rebels against the monochromatic look that is common this season by combining camel and gray. Go ahead and emulate Kate Moss by mixing up the neutral colors in your wardrobe.

Take a look at our suggestions:

Solitaire Shawl

The Solace Hooded Cardigan and the Solitaire Shawl compliment each other perfectly.

Wear our Alexa Drop Pants with a basic top to keep the look streamlined. We love the Logan Basic Scoop Neck!

Victoria's Secret Fashion Show

PC: [NYTimes]
With the Victoria's Secret show airing later on this month, a buzz has began to grow around the event as people eagerly speculate who will be cast in the show. This year, Doutzen Kroes and Miranda Kerr will not appear in the show because they are both on maternity leave. These openings freed up the highly-coveted spot of the Angels. It has been reported by Glamour that model Izabel Goulart allegedly cried when she received her wings.
