DVF Talks FNO

Diane Von Furstenberg has been quite a busy lady lately. Between contributing to
Fordham's Fashion Law Institute
and finishing up her spring line, DVF took a moment to sit down with The Early Show to talk about Fashion's Night Out.

Some important points she discusses are:
-how FNO gets people into the stores and makes them excited about fashion again
-the expansion of FNO from an event in New York to a global affair
-the idea that FNO builds hype around merchandise that is available for purchase right now

The event seems to have accomplished it's mission. People flocked to the stores to meet celebrities, drink for free, and shop 'til they drop!

New York Magazine hit the streets to find out what people bought. Check out some of the purchases below:

WHO: Holly Holtz (left), 17, a high-school student who lives on the Upper East Side; and Miranda Watson, 17, a high-school student who lives in Tribeca

SPOTTED:: Outside the Kate Spade store in Soho

WHAT THEY BOUGHT: Tim Gunn's new book, $26

SAYS MIRANDA: "We knew that Tim Gunn was going to be here, but we didn’t know that his book was going to be sold. We definitely wanted to get it because he’s signing it."

WHO: Taylor Tomasi Hill, 31, Marie Claire's Style and Accessories Director

SPOTTED: Outside Madewell in Soho

WHAT SHE BOUGHT: Alexa Chung for Madewell's "Hello" bat T-shirt, $58

SAYS TAYLOR: “Look at this place — it’s crazy! You can’t even catch a cab … I think that it’s exciting to have a one-of-a kind from Alexa, that’s going to sell out tonight.”

WHO: Dasha Fulkerson, a chef who lives in Soho

SPOTTED: Outside Tina Tarantino in Soho

WHAT SHE BOUGHT: Shoes at Chanel, $1,000, and a Proenza Schouler limited-edition FNO clutch, $150

SAYS DASHA: “I bought more because of the limited-edition stuff. Like, the Chanel I would never buy, but because it was for one-night only, I bought it.”

FNO was a huge success and hopefully everyone is enjoying their new purchases. The event is technically over but if you're still in the shopping mood (and you should be) head over to qicashmereshop.com to see our Fall 2010 new arrivals!
