ELLE, Rue La La, and Sundance Channel present the It Gets Better Lounge at the Empire Hotel during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. Fashion’s elite, celebrities, tastemakers and media are invited to stop by fashion week’s hotspot for hope and style on September 9th and 10th between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. to celebrate the project’s mission to help put an end to persistent bullying of LGBT youth. The lounge will offer guests the opportunity to record their own PSA onsite for the It Gets Better Project. The video will be featured on the It Gets Better website.
Guests will have the chance to enjoy interactive experiences during their journey to filming their message of hope for the It Gets Better Project. Onsite services include the John Barrett Salon featuring the new Braid Bar where you can choose from a menu of the latest braid styles. About the It Gets Better Project
Many young people face daily tormenting and bullying, leading them to feel like they have nowhere to turn. This is especially true for LGBT kids and teens, which often hide their sexuality for fear of bullying. Without other openly gay adults and mentors in their lives, they can't imagine what their future may hold. It Gets Better Project was created to show young LGBT people the levels of happiness, potential, and positivity their lives will reach –if they can just get through their teen years. It Gets Better Project wants to remind teenagers in the LGBT community that they are not alone —and it WILL get better.
The It Gets Better Project has turned into a worldwide movement, inspiring thousands of user-created videos and over 25 million views. To date, the project has received submissions from celebrities, organizations, activists, politicians and media personalities, including President Barack Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Rep.
